Dan
and Mary Bryan, both graduates of Emporia State University, live
in Chillicothe, Missouri, where Dan is the CEO of a rural electric
cooperative, and Mary is an elementary teacher. They are the
parents of two sons, Danny and Darin.
Their
lives were forever changed when their oldest son, Darin, died in a
car wreck. An elderly woman was driving the wrong direction on the
interstate and met Darin head on as he drove to work. He had just
kissed the two loves of his life goodbye - his wife, Angie, and
their 5-month-old daughter, Micah (pictured above at Easter,
1998). Now, they were tragically left
without a husband and daddy.
Written
from the heart, Dan and Mary have authored these books to help
other grieving
parents cope with the intense pain after the death of a child.
Their faith in God and the promise of Heaven has given them the
strength to face one day at a time. Knowing that there are so many
questions and emotions to wrestle with, they hope these books will
help other parents realize they are not alone.
Danny
honored the brother he loved by designing the covers of both
books. On "torn from our arms," he used green WWJD
bracelets, like the one Darin wore every day, to form a cross
depicting their family's faith in Jesus.
Mary
has also led many GriefShare groups in their community. She has
counseled parents who have lost children of all ages to diseases,
suicide, murder, war casualties, and accidents, in addition to
adults who have lost spouses, siblings, and parents.
It
is their prayer that your heart will be touched through these
books. All proceeds will go to North Missouri Fellowship of
Christian Athletes (FCA).
